Melissa in full length Lena Lace Applique cheongsam
Lena Lace Cheongsam previously blogged about in a shorter knee-length version is custom made for Melissa for her tea ceremony in full length. While the design remains unchanged, it is sleeker as the lace coverage is proportionally smaller, adding just enough auspicious red for the traditional Chinese ceremony without sacrificing style.

Thank you Melissa for sharing with us the joy on the happiest day (yet).

Keyhole Lace Mini with Lace Applique for Sherlyn

Mini cheongsams, or some may say "those tiny-Chinese-dress", have 1 of the cuts customers keep coming back to Mazzario for. Slowly we realise we seem to have many, many petite customers. Whether slim or small built, our mini cheongsam is particularly flattering on the petite ladies.
This particular cheongsam custom made for Sherlyn with a very cut in halter collar which delicately hangs over the neck, and plunges low at the back, and just enough front slit for allure and movement. A little black lace in a very graphic circular print off sets the angular cut of the cheongsam.
This cutting is particularly flattering for the apple body type as well as the athletic column body type.

Lace Cheongsam In Turquoise for Janice

An elegant evening cheongsam, that's all Janice asked for. An active lady, she is very well proportioned, looks good in anything, and almost any cheongsam, leaving us with almost no problem to solve. This opens the door to a world of possibilities, too many possibilities sometimes.
After much discussion, both Janice and ourselves decided we should keep it simple with bold lace accents to further accentuate the proportion. The lace runs down only on one side of her legs which works with her very high heels for lengthening effect. The colour turquoise was chosen to complement her medium skin tone and also inject vibrancy into the very simple silhouette. Oh, did we tell you there is surprise opening on her waist which further emphasized her small waist, creating a perfect hourglass.
Beauty is never enough.
This is a variation of the simple white cheongsam with lace applique and an elegant plain cheongsam with beaded collar.

Gold Chinese Silk Cheongsam with Gold Lace Overlay

For you who are familiar with Mazzario Cheongsam, you would know that Chinese Silk Brocade is one of our favorite fabrics to work with. Be it a classic Tea Dress with double trimming or the fashion-forward customer favourite Empire Halter Mini Cheongsam; the Talia Toga Cheongsam or the Mystic Corded Mini Cheongsam we constantly strive to revive the beautful traditional fabric to it's former glory.

Here comes the bride who just like almost every girl and even more so bride-to-be out there ( or here!), can't give up the love for the delicacy and glamour that lace fabric lends, even to a cheongsam.
Yet, a cheongsam carries with it the many burdens of its important role in Chinese period dramas and Wong Kar Wai's movie In The Mood For Love.

Of the greedy nature that we sometimes deny, we would not refuse combination of the two for this bridal cheongsam. Afterall, Singapore is all about fusion-everything. See for yourself how the golden lace overlay glimmers on the traditional cream coloured brocade with traditional florals. Fully lined in red just for that extra dose of Chinese auspiciousness, even on the inside.

Wedding Cheongsam Gown—for Jessica

Many modern Asian Chinese brides are torn between tradition customs and urban lifestyle preference. They often settle for a gown less than satisfactory giving in to either side. Always optimistic, we helped Jessica and her family's expectations meet half-way.
While simple and sleek silhouette is her ideal, she feared her mother prefers traditional (Read: Red & gold sleeved full length cheongsam). Here at Mazzario we would not let you walk away depressed and old-fashioned.
We suggested a bright red gold and red Chinese Brocade fabric to be made into a simple silhouette, with additional lace applique, both to add sparkles as well as to visually slim the torso. The lace up keyhole back has room for adjustments, and makes for a cute bow at the back. The mermaid flare starts centre front at a v-point, and moves up gradually to mid-thigh at the back, creating curves while slimming the thighs.

Diamond Cheongsam Halter Version for Carol

The DIAMOND Cheongsam has long been one of the most sought-after designs not without it's reasons. The cutting, the colour combinations, and the demure front and surprise back view has very broad appeal.
Carol is lanky and has good upper body formation. No wonder she prefers a halter version, with lower neckline, fitted even tighter than the usual snug.
The thick embroidery lace hides a multitude of flaws, especially that below the waist. The tightness enhances the corset effect given by our signature cut and tailoring.
Do not trust us when we tell you a good cheongsam or a custom qipao does wonders, believe only your eyes, and of course, the compliments.

Toga Mini Cheongsam - Talia

Deviating from the elements of a Qipao or a traditional cheongsam—Talia—Toga Mini Cheongsam is calling out to the unconventional modern lady looking for a unique. Part of Mazzario's New Ready-to-Wear Cheongsam Collection, Comes in 3 colour variations of marine blue, champagne, and gunmetal. Not unlike the Telepyleia Toga Cheongsam, an asymmetrical toga cheongsam is the perfect piece to accentuate the décolletage and toned arms of the athletic build.
Metallic coated lace insert at the collar and thighs introduces visual lead ons, elongating the silhouette for a slimmer look. The very tapered fit combined with the thigh high front slit subtilely exudes just enough sex appeal. The marine blue and black Chinese Brocade shimmers a little in ambient lighting without being over the top. The Talia Toga Mini Cheongsam is appropriate for most dinner and dance occasions, including your next candle-lit dinner date.

Wedding Cheongsam - Olida

Black is one of the most favored dress colour of all times, by women of all ages, and cultures, so much so there is an acronym LBD dedicated just to the specific fashion preference. Women of Chinese ethnicity are no exception—until the wedding day when any association with the word "black" is inauspicious.
Thankfully most mothers have lightened up and would still attend her daughter's wedding as long as she isn't black head-to-toe. And the bride says, " Look, Ma, it's a Chinese Cheongsam, surely I can have a little black flowers on it."
Another black/ red wedding cheongsam for your inspiration.

Wedding Cheongsam - Othelia
Wedding Cheongsam is one of our sought after categories. We have put together a series of recommendations for different wedding events.

The opened high mandarin collar is popular with the bride looking for a modern and slender look. The high mandarin collar maintains the Chinese style without sacrificing comfort.
The The special hemline drapes in front and falls to a smooth fan at the back. Sweeping train provides just enough glamour for the formal night events such as the banquet. Partial lace applique introduces texture to the otherwise smooth cheongsam, accentuating curves. Additional detachable extra long sash highlights the waist and gives a better view 'going out'.
Available made to order, also in other colours.

Fall Cheongsam in Electrify

The Fall Cheongsam has been in our made to order collection for a while. It is the lesser known sister of the Petals Cheongsam. Upon numerous customer requests, we are finally making a very limited number in ready-to-wear. First in the series—Electrify.
Electrify is turquoise lace on iridescent Chinese brocade. One moment it looks harmoniously blue, another, it looks highly contrasting. Sometimes the lace floral into the brocade seamlessly, sometimes it looks like lace applique popping out of the traditional fabric.
Enough said, you have to see it for yourself. But this is not for everyone, only for the discerningly quirky.

Peranakan Cheongsam

What
A client wanted a bareback cheongsam with strictly fuchsia embroidery on a lime green background. We were given little time and worked on a tight budget.
With the little time on hand, we could not commission custom embroidery to be done. We were left with the option of either lace or netted embroidery fabric.
How
The original embroidery flowers (as shown above) were ivory. Every flower was painstakingly painted over with 2 washes of bright fuchia. These flowers were then cut out closely along the edges, before being sewn onto the cheongsam before assembly. The flowers were arranged to enhance the female form, accentuating the waistline.
The flowers then flow from the bodice, over the shoulder, to the waist at the back, forming a diagonal fuchsia tattoo florals. This band divides the weight of the full length gown, thus provide more security for the client in the low back dress without sacrificing the aesthetics.
